- How is website writing different?
Most visitors make a decision in 0-10 seconds whether they've come to the right place. Web writing has to "grab" their attention, quickly. Website writing needs to help the visitors you most want to connect with to not only linger, to also take the next step. That often isn't calling you; instead it's being tempted enough to acquire something from your site to give you their contact info. The right writing makes that more likely. Also, it takes a flexible, skilled writer to combine compelling copy and increased the odds of it coming up in prospect searches.
- Are you a website designer?
No. They're experts in the layout and mechanics of the site. I can offer insights about what works and what's not working beyond just the writing.
- What do you know about Search Engine Optimization?
At this stage, enough to refer you to someone else more knowledgeable in that area. I can write to their or your recommended criteria.
- Your website's kinda funny but my image is different than that. Do you write about more serious stuff?
You betcha. Seriously, while my website reflects my more playful style, I can write websites well for a wide range of clients, products, services and will adopt whatever "tone" or style makes the most sense for their needs. In all modesty, I'm pretty versatile that way.
- Do you write stuff besides for websites?
Sure. Just ask. Not to bore you with a resume, I have a lot of experience making the message fit the medium, and my client's needs.
